Аргумент, конечно, потрясающий 🙂 Типа: рост температуры утром свидетельствует за глобальное потепление, а падение вечером – не свидетельствует против.
Сами «письма климатологов» ничего такого уж зловещего в себе не
содержат: да, там есть куча _неэтичных_ моментов (касающихся механизмов
формирования того самого «научного единомыслия»), но прямого криминала – … в них нету.

Т.е. этот писатель-изучатель ископаемых козявок пытается аргументировать свою точку зрения ровно тем способом, против которого вроде бы сам выступает – по-обывательски.

🙂 У меня последнее время (с возрастом связано наверное) складывается очень неприглядная картина всей этой науки и научной жизни. Той идеальной науки, про которую грезят разные учёные и около, никогда не было. Просто раньше на каждую хитрую научную ж находился х с винтом с соседнего факультета, из другого универа, из другого города, из другой страны. А теперь самые ушлые ребята от науки оседлали “мировое правительство”, а помощи из соседней галактики ждать не приходится.
Там же, вот как человек представляется:
“climate change biologist, дисер по влиянию изменения климата на почвенный углерод и фенологию корней хвойных”.
И говорит:
“Консенсус таки действительно есть. Но есть очень много очень важных дядей и тётей, у которых финансовые интересы во много порядков превышают все гранты всем ученым вместе взятые, которым очень не выгодно отсутсвие скептиков. И тогда начинают финансироватся Heartland Institute и иже с ними. И они идут на публику. Ну a глупые ученые (вот тут действительно идиотское решение) вместо того что-бы игнорировать всяких там Singer’ов начинают с ними на публике дебаты вести (так как эти ребята ни в одном журналу опубликоватся все равно не смогут).”

Биoлoги, гoвoрите? Вoт у нaс нoвaя кoллегa из Department of Biology and Biotechnology рaзoслaлa всему университету письмишкo (см. ниже). И ведь приличный университет, врoде бы. Хoтя и не МГУ, нo всё-тaки aмерикaнский first tier. 🙁

In 2006, a widely cited report by United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Livestock’s Long Shadow<ftp://ftp.fao.org/docrep/fao/010/a0701e/A0701E03.pdf>, estimated that 18 percent of greenhouse gas emissions are attributable to livestock farming for human consumption (cattle, buffalo, sheep, goat, pig and poultry). That amount is more than all transportation combined, and would easily qualify livestock for a hard look in the battle against global warming.
A recent report, however, builds on the FAO report and finds that meat production actually accounts for at least 51% of annual worldwide greenhouse gas emissions. This new report, by retired lead environmental adviser at the World Bank Group Robert Goodland and World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation research officer and environmental specialist Jeff Anhang, co-authors of Livestock and Climate Change, may be accessed at: http://www.worldwatch.org/files/pdf/Livestock%20and%20Climate%20Change.pdf
Contrary to popular belief, we really only have 2 to 3 years left to drastically reduce global temperature in order to save the planet from the dreaded point of no return (explained in http://www.concernedworldcitizens.org<http://www.concernedworldcitizens.org/>). What this new report means is that the single most effective action individuals can take to save the planet is to reduce or eliminate meat and dairy consumption. If a significant number of people in the world adopts the simple but most powerful practice of a plant-base diet – preferably organic vegan diet – then we could reverse the effects of global warming in time to avert the impending catastrophic events.
This will give us the time needed to adopt longer-term measures such as more green technology and clean energy sources that will further decrease the carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. In fact, if we continue with our current rate of meat production, all other green efforts will be cancelled out in effect, and we will lose the planet before we have the chance to implement any effective green technology.
Please email this letter to as many people as possible. If each person forwards it to 10 fresh people, the entire North America will be covered in less than 10 days.
